The Connie S. Amaya Foundation invites families in Lockhart and Central Texas to our annual free backpack giveaway!
We believe that every student deserves to start the school year feeling confident and prepared. That’s why we're providing free backpacks to local students in need.

For many families, a backpack is one of the most expensive items on the back-to-school list—but it’s essential for starting the year off right. This is our way of saying to students in our community, “We’ve got your back...pack.”

We’re collecting school supplies for our upcoming Backpack Giveaway to help local students start the year strong. If you’re able, please consider donating new backpacks or supplies to support families in our community. Every contribution makes a difference!
Already have school supplies? Drop them off at 520 Frio Street, Lockhart, Texas during the hours of Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Connie S. Amaya Free Backpack Drive - Lockhart
The Connie S. Amaya Education Aid Foundation is thrilled to announce the return of our free backpack drive for students in Central Texas. Each student can choose one backpack at no cost, thanks to the generous contributions from Connie S. Amaya, the Education Aid Foundation, family and friends.
Connie S. Amaya dedicated 46 years to serving Lockhart ISD before retiring. Since 2019, Connie has used her own retirement funds to purchase hundreds of backpacks, giving back to the Lockhart community.
In Spring 2024, Connie and her family formally established the Connie S. Amaya Education Aid Foundation to access more resources and create a greater, more sustainable impact in Central Texas.
Why a Free Backpack Drive?
As an organization, we believe that education is the cornerstone of building a stronger and better community for everyone.
Why a Backpack?
For many families, a backpack is the most expensive item on the back-to-school list and is essential for starting the school year on the right foot.
It's also our way of telling students in the community, "We've got your back...pack!"

Connie S. Amaya’s Backpack Drive Fundraiser: Turkey Legs & Sausage Wrap Pop-Up
Join us as we launch the Connie S. Amaya Education Aid Foundation and further our commitment to empowering students through education. Your support during our turkey leg and sausage wraps pop-up will directly benefit the annual backpack drive, helping to equip students for success.
