About the Connie S. Amaya Education Aid Foundation
The Connie S. Amaya Education Aid Foundation is committed to empowering every student in Central Texas to achieve their educational potential. By providing essential resources and fostering a supportive community, the foundation works to remove barriers to education under its guiding principle: Empowering Education for Everyone.
Connie S. Amaya retired from Lockhart ISD after 46 years of service. Since 2019, she has used her own retirement money to purchase hundreds of backpacks and give them right back to the communities of Lockhart and Uvalde. The annual backpack drive is her love language — and her way of telling every student, "We've got your back...pack!"
